FAQ

Why does Bolota ask for Screen Time access?

On iPhone, apps can only be blocked through Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls). Once you allow it, Bolota can ask iOS to block the apps you pick during the schedules you set. iOS itself enforces the block. Your chosen apps reach Bolota as opaque tokens: we can't see their names and we never send them anywhere. You can revoke the permission in iOS Settings > Screen Time.

I declined the permission. What now?

Open Bolota and tap "Allow Screen Time" to try again. If you changed the permission in iOS Settings, close and reopen Bolota.

Why can't I remove the block instantly?

That's on purpose. A block that turns off with one tap doesn't help in the moments you need it most. So:

You're still in charge: you can change the schedule and the apps inside Bolota. As a last resort, revoking Screen Time permission in iOS Settings or deleting the app also removes Bolota's blocks.

How does the breathing pause work?

When you open a blocked app, Bolota's screen appears. If you really need in, open Bolota and take the pause: 10 seconds following the circle (breathe in, breathe out). If you leave Bolota midway, the pause starts over. At the end you choose: open your apps for a short time, or stay where you are. Temporary unlocks only exist during a schedule and end on their own.

The block stopped working. What should I do?

Open Bolota: on launch it checks that protection is active and restores it if needed. You can also tap "Check protection". If it still doesn't work, make sure Screen Time permission is still on and iOS is up to date. If the problem persists, email us.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so we can't cancel them for you. On your iPhone: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > Bolota > Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal (or before the annual plan's 7-day free trial ends) to avoid being charged for the next period. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. For refunds, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.

New iPhone or reinstalled the app. How do I get Pro back?

In Bolota, open the Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple Account you bought with. App selections and schedules live on the device, so you'll need to pick them again on a new iPhone.

Does Bolota Pro work with Family Sharing?

Yes. If Family Sharing is on for your Apple Account, family members can use Pro on their own devices (tap "Restore Purchases" if needed). Each person picks their own apps and schedules on their own iPhone. Bolota is not meant for controlling someone else's device.

What data do you collect?

Your app selection, schedules and usage stay on your iPhone. We collect anonymous usage statistics (PostHog, EU servers) to improve the app. Purchases go through Apple and RevenueCat. No ads, no data sales, no tracking. Details in our Privacy Policy.

How much does it cost?

Blocking 1 app is free, with a schedule and the breathing pause. Bolota Pro unlocks more apps: annual €29.99/year (7 days free for eligible accounts, then renews automatically), weekly €3.99/week, or lifetime €49.99 one-time. Prices may vary by country, and the App Store shows the final price before you confirm.
